Hi,
Just picked up a NOS first generation Legacy FP. Really like it, medium point nice writer but have a question about ink and flow. I filled it with Skrip ink, after first flushing and drying it. When I write the flow of ink is not uniform. In other words it starts light, then gets dark, then light etc etc. Could it be the ink? (its a few years old) Is this normal?? Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks,
Jimbones7

I had a legacy that I thought had flow issues until I changed inks and it worked like a champ, might try some different inks.

Hey, I've had serious problems with the skrip. I checked not one but many pens and the results were disappointing. All wrote dry or demonstarted nonuniform ink flow.
For you, I guess, an ink change would do the trick! And enjoy your pen!

Steve.

I have five Legacys, of which three are in regular rotation, I often use Skrip ink in them, both Blue and Black but have never had any flow problems, but won't do any harm to try another ink.

I agree with all the above.
I have 6 older Legacys and no problem at all with ink flow.
Are you using Red Skrip? I find it shades quite a lot.
Also check the ink reservoir/converter. I have a thread on this or answered one in Sheaffer Froeum somewhere. Sometimes they are not airtight as the bladder might be busted. Take it out and gently blow with sealed lips and any give in pressure means it is gone. This may affect the flow as the vacuum when filling will be interfered with.

Follow-up:
Thanks guys for all great replies. It was the ink. The Skrip I had was about 3-4 years old and appeared very watery, was blue/black. Anyway I purchased, from FPH, velvet black Private Reserve ink and the pen is performing flawlessly. What a great overall pen! Shame that Sheaffer is now owned by someone else and this type of quality is probably gone forever.
Just ordered a NOS Targa gold fluted with a medium point. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

I am lucky enough to have won the very first production Legacy off the line from a contest that Pen World magazine did in 1995. It is engraved 'Legacy One'.
Although I know it is verboten, I did fill it a couple of times, and it wrote perfectly from the first stroke...

Have christened two, NOS Legacy 2s, which I use daily. Used the Noodler's "bulletproof" line of indelible inks (black, blue and red so far) exclusively, and the Legacys write wet and smooth. One has a medium nib and the other, a left oblique. I'm a neutral, underhand lefty.
