Hi, I'm a calligrapher. I love great nibs and pens with good ink flow. I'm lucky to have a store nearby that has held onto some very old pens. I've some Osmiroids and just discovered her Platignum sets.
I love writing and am always looking for information about them.
Strangely enough I'm a disabled embedded programmer with a math degree, but my mom is an artist and I've been playing around with calligraphy for many years. No stuck here and bored I've become much more dedicated.
I love reading, good movies, stuck on documentaries and the classic and medieval history.
It almost sounds like I have a serious split personality.
I'm so glad I ran into this forum. I hope everyone is well and a fond wave and hello to you all.

I would be happy too. I'm working on semi-unical now. I was doing some gothic earlier. Any preference?
Thanks for the hello and I hope you are well.

OK, please remember it's only been about 6 months I've been serious about this. I'll photograph a semi-unical I like (it gets much better resolution than my scanner), upload an old letter that was one of my first projects and a sign I made for the store keeper who gave (can you believe this) my first 65 osmiroid.
Please remember the L is very old. You can see the lines (my apologies).
The sign has some spacing problems and the owner didn't like the design. I'll be working on another for her to show her that her present has not gone to waste. As you can see with the L, I was having some serious trouble sizing things correct and the paper bled and too so much in, I went over it several times. No I make my own practice paper with 20lb paper and some adobe software. I also bought a good mm ruler, as B4 really isn't quite 2mm. (I was using an online graphing program). I'll probably write one (program) soon, but at least I have good paper!
I would like to send as good a copy of a Celtic font as I can, so a couple of days, OK?

Thank you all. And a wave and hellow to Mike, hdowney.
Mike, thank you, but I think you're being kind. There are many very significant errors in this work, and it's months old. But I appreciate your comment. It might just keep me working through pain.

Calligraphy makes me so jealous. I can barely write my native tongue legibly in normal handwriting, much less get fancy. It's probably part of my fountain pen addiction. Illegibility is so much more classy if it is done with a fountain pen, dontcha think?
Welcome to the group.

If you would send me an email address you don't mind me having, I'll send you the orr file or a very large jpeg (256 colors vs. 65,000+ makes a big difference in both the picture and the size of the file unfortunately.
So ladies and gentlemen I think you knew this:

Welcome to the forum. You do beautiful work.

Thank you for your kind hello and your lovely complement. I'll try to remember to accept it. I usually can see all the mistakes so much easier than what looks good.
May you have a lovely day or night. I'm sorry I didn't check what time zone you were in.
Best Wishes,
Jamieth
