I just got a Paul Smith FP from ebay; it's missing its cartridge and/or its converter. What cartridges does it take? Is a converter available? I assume "Cross" is the right answer, but I'd like to make sure.

Thanks for your help!

You are correct - Paul Smith pens were made by Cross and will therefore take Cross cartridges and converters. There are 2 types of Cross converter:
  • Type 8030 for the Century, ATX, Apogee and Verve models. This converter is orange and screws into the nib unit.
  • Type 8930 for the Townsend model. This converter is green and is a push fit in the nib unit.

If you can see screw threads inside the section (where the cartridge or converter fits) then you need the orange converter, otherwise you need the green one.

If no one else gets back to you before I get home this afternoon, I will check my Paul Smith pen and see which converter it came with.

I have two Paul Smiths. They take the orange converters.

Thanks, everybody, for your information. I've ordered an orange converter.

Lesson learned: Ebay sellers can be crafty in their product descriptions. NIB doesn't necessarily mean "New in *its own* Box, with all the original accessories included."

Thanks again!

I know what you mean. I bought two apogees recently, pens were perfect but they both came with the green Townsend converter!! crybaby.gif
