I personally thought that it was real, and this guy knows; bought a Cardinal red Waterman 78 a while back.

Congrats to the buyer. What a pen clap1.gif

I was watching too! Wow jumped 2 grand in the last few seconds!! Sure would like to come across one of these in the wild!
UncleNick
That is funny , I remember looking at this when it first went up and thinking "I would pay $100 or so for this - the nib would probably clean up nicely". I am so out of my depth here! I should just stick with my Parker 51.

Buy a car... buy a pen. Buy a car... buy a pen.

I'll settle for the Honda Accord.

holy c***

Maybe it's that rare, but it certainly isn't much of a looker...

Funny, I thought $5 grand was pretty reasonable. WAYYYY out of my price range, but I have seen big unique pens sell for more than that.......

cheap for an excellent Red Giant.

lack of imprint hits value.

Still... very scarce pen, and most reportedly have had cracked caps.

Would not have minded having this in my wee collection.

"Wee collection," David? lticaptd.gif Now THAT's funny (to most of us)!

Also, I think the seller revised the listing later to state that there was a faint imprint. I, too, would have like that pen for my truly "wee" collection!

David, I'll PM you about that pen section I'm looking for. Hope you are enjoying your week!

HOLY CRAP Batman! The boy's got $$$ to burn.
I find it hard to understand some person paying $5350.00 for an old pen. But then, I
don't have 5 grand to throw away like that. A pen's price is what someone is willing to
pay for it, so, I guess that was the price. ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

AN OLD PEN?!?!?!

Wet Squad, track the address of this man. It will be a night attack. The Farm must be on Code 12. That is code 12.
All men to the planes; Air raid.

The Wet Squad "takes care" of those things/folk that need taking care of. Somewhat similar to the Visiting Nurses, albeit with different intended outcomes. They take direction (poorly) from their peerless leader (HE who must not be named but can't seem to keep his identity secret) in the "Tower" but often "act-out" on their own, frequently with unexpected results.

Membership is "fluid" but self-selected from those with appropriate skills and motivation. They are masters of camouflage and unmatched garb, which includes Wellington boots, fishnet stockings, re-breathing gear, neoprene undies, and ballet slippers. Fashionistas they are not. They do have some very nice fountain pens.

They are an eclectic, international bunch of wenches and blokes who very much need a den-mother to keep them out of mischief.

They like small fuzzy animals, perhaps a bit too much (but not for breakfast).

As suggested in a previous post, a careful search will provide fascinating clues to their many unusual proclivities.

Damply,

Andy

No need to scream out the result! angry.gif

What's the big deal, anyway - there are pens around that are worth this money to collectors. If people are willing to spend tens of millions on oil paintings, then why not a few grand on a rare pen?

Philistine! I'd get more pleasure from a fine pen.
