Full Version: I think I have a flex Triumph nib

I was playing around at work today and realized that my blue Sentinel seemed to be giving me a variable line, not something I'm used to in a Snorkel. The loops on y and g lowercase letters looked an awful lot like those on my flex nibbed pens, so i tried deliberately writing with a very light hand, and surprise, it IS a flex. Visible tip spread with light pressure on the nib, so if I use very light pressure the line varies from very fine to wet medium as I write and the pressure varies.

No markings on the nib that I can see right now, but I'll take it to work tomorrow and stick it under the microscope to make sure.

Nice surprise, indeed, as flex nibs on Snorkels aren't very common, I don't think. I usually ignore anything but fines. I'll have to check some of the rest of them and see if I have more!

I have two burgundy Snorks and one has a semi flexible triumph nib and the other is the usual triumph nail nib. The nail is two tone and the flexer is a solid yellow gold. The flex seems to have slightly longer tines also.

Now you went and did it!!! I've got to ink another pen! The flexy snork has been out of rotation for too long! Where is that bottle of Noodlers Burgundy!

Here's how to tell for sure if you have a flexible Snorkel Triumph nib: there will be no indented or engraved line between the gold portion of the nib and the palladium-masked portion of the nib.

Good luck,
Don

Took the pen to work today and took a look at hign magnification. G5 -- Gregg nib, no F anywhere to indicate flex, but it is quite a bit longer than a standard fine Triumph nib.

Officially flex or not, it does give me some line variation in normal use (and no, I'm not mashing down on it, I've had to fix too many I've gotten on eBay!).

No, you are mistaken. Ship the pen off to me and I will conclusively show it is not a flex and will only charge you a paltry sum for disposing of the pen for you. rolleyes.gif wink.gif

hahahahaha!

Not a chance, Gregg nibs are perfect for me and not that common!
