I've given a Lamy Al Star to my mother who uses it a lot on a daily basis. Now the cap has lost its retention and easily slides off. Peering inside with a lamp, I can see the plastic sleeve that has the retention mechanism, but cannot figure out how to alter it to give it more "grab" onto the pen. Any ideas?

I just got my first Al-Star and I've wondered about the longevity of the cap-snap. Much of the time I just don't click it on because I don't want to wear it out, but then it's not as securely attached as it could be. Your mother's experience indicates that it *can* wear out. I'm hoping there is some type of solution to give it snap again...

Get Ralph Prather to try to make a Titanium clutch. That would last laugh.gif
