I lost the converter for my MB 144 long ago, so I bought another one from Tryphon -- the standard "international style," which I figured would work since the MB takes "international" cartridges. Yet the converter doesn't seem to want to go in, and I'm a little afraid to force it. If someone can tell me that this is the right converter, I'll go ahead and put a bit of oomph behind it. smile.gif

MB cartridges are not standard international cartridges, and the nipple and the section hole are not the correct size. That you can use international cartridges with some force is confusing and misleading and can damage your pen. In extrema the nipple can be damaged and then you are miles from home.

Check out the Pentrace Cartridge Compatibility Chart.

My suggestion is you buy a real MB converter. They are not that expensive I think. But buy the right one, because the old MB144 has a slip in convertor, while the newer version is screw-in.

Hans.

Got it. The int'l cartridge seemed to go in without any force, so I figured that was OK. But I'll look for an official MB converter -- and cartridges. Thanks!

For the board archive reference:
Yes, the old 144 takes the int'l cartridges without force but the problem with the nipple size holds. To illustrate the force point, if you have a MB Mozart FP, then you will relly have to use force to put the int'l cart. in whil the MB cartridges do not need the force.

Having said this, I use Diamine int'l size carts in my Mozart (just force them in), but I use the MB converter in the 144.

Succes with your pen.
Hans.
