...finally I was able to add this longly desired Ebonized Pearl model (ca. 1936)

OS Marine Green model with perfect color; really dark black and bright emerald green patches (not the medium olive green which I've seen on most Marine Green Balances); ca. 1930-31

Black and Pearl model from ca. 1934/35 with good but not perfect color

Nice pair of Red Veined Grey Pearl pens; one is a Standard size (ca. 1932-33), the other one is a smaller non-white dot (ca. 1934) model

'Hope this proves why vintage Balances are among the most desired vintage pens (at least for me smile.gif )

Enjoy

Very Nice!

The Gray Pearl with Red Veins is my favorite color.

I wish there was a modern pen in that color.

These are superb Michael !
I particularly like your Ebonized Pearl OS. The colours are so vivid and true to the original.

Interestingly, I think the colours on the Marine Green marbled Balances changed around 1934/5. The celluloid used on the later pens was a lighter, more olive green which contrasted with the deep, almost emerald green of the earlier pens.

Here's a photo of one the later pens which has much less black in the marbling.

Being a keen Balance collector myself, you don't have to convince me that these pens are wonderful.
Many thanks for sharing yours

Excellent photos of some excellent pens. I've recently started collecting Balances. They are indeed some of the best pens ever produced.

Your Marine Green looks really nice as well!

The color difference really is striking so you might be correct about the change of the celluloid used for the Marine Green pens.

This is very interesting that you mention this as well as I never heard about two different versions of the marbled Marine Green before.

Cheers

Hi Glenn,
You could always try and get hold of a modern Balance LE.
Not quite the same colour, but the veining is there and the lever filling adds to the authenticity.
Mine has a fine nib and is a superb writer.
These pens can be regularly found for sale on the boards or eBay. Expect to pay $300 upwards.
