I'm new here and have recenty purchased two pens, one is a Waterman Phileas and the other is a Lamy 2000 EF. I made the mistake of reading up on Parker 51's here and there and now I would like to purchase one.

Any suggestions as to where to look would be appreciated. It does not have to be a specific model year although 1957 was a good year for me being that was the year I was born. It might be nice to find something from that year. In reading it seem that there are two different filling systems. I'm interested in the more reliable system, it's just that I can't recall the name.

Any help in finding a vendor would be appreciated.

Sounds like you want an aerometric filler, which is all that was made in the 50's I believe. I'm sure your post will generate an opportunity to buy from a member (me, I'm not selling roflmho.gif ). If you find a nice example at a reasonable price, I wouldn't focus on the year too much.

I would try and buy one from a reputable seller such as Mike McConnell at www.wetinc.com. His pens are usually in superb condition and he guarantees them for a year. Buying from ebay is a bit of a lottery, i bought one recently as an everyday user and was told by the seller that it didn't need restoration. However, on receiving the pen it writes very dryly and requires some tweaking which means additional expense. It has put me off going the ebay route in the future for vintage pens.

The specicfic year is not that important, but would be nice to find something in the 5o's or 60's

Thanks

Deja Vu all over again?

No.

I thought I recognized this. I just responded to an identical post in the Parker Forum.

I wonder if this little easter egg is hidden anywhere else?

On a more positive note: this one is a great deal. Binderized!
