Reading a site called -- pile of index cards. "Hawk" is in Japan and used index cards as his, keep track of life system. He mentions a Kokuyo Field book, 80 pages. It looks nice and I believe he said he finds them at the Yen Store .. like a Dollar Store. Was wondering if anyone knew of these and a possible US source.

He also mentions a 3x5 grid card made by Correct. It's nice in that the card was cut on the actual grid lines so on edge you could see the grid. Really need to see the picture. A source for them might be nice too.

Enjoy your day. I hope your weekend is full of pens, paper and gentle weather.

My first thought would be to try Kinokuniya. I used to make special trips back to NYC to buy little Kokuyo pocket notebooks there, as well as other sorts of Japanese stationery and supplies. They have branches in Seatlle and Portland. You might also try some of the Asian stores in Portland or Seattle. My brother lived out there for awhile, and I seem to recall him telling me stories of massive Asian grocery stores that carried a range of products far beyond anything we ever see here back East (with the possible exception of the Mitsuwa store up in North Jersey).

[edit] I just checked out the Pile of Index Cards site briefly. I like it! I'll have to spend some more time later on reading that site.

I love gridded index cards, and wish I could easily get the 'Correct' brand favored at Pile of Index Cards.

To try to answer the question - Hawk at Pile Of Index Cards has an annual sale where he sells the Kokuyo Fieldbook, along with Correct index cards and docks. With shipping ... they are not cheap.

SallyLyn, I agree with amper, those Kokuyo field books are pretty easy to find in Japan, and my guess is Kinokuniya or other stores that carry Japanese stationery would carry it. The retail price on the particular one they use (Sketch Book) is 170 yen, or less than $2.

I'm not sure if they carry the field notebook, but there are Daiso stores in Seattle and other places in the west coast. Daiso is one of the largest 100 yen store chains in Japan. Go to the page below and click on the US flag for locations.
