Hi,

I have a question that I could not find much information on. I was wondering if there are instructions on how to disassemble the Hero 100 fountain pen. The reason I ask is that the one I have, the nib is not exactly aligned with the body, it is slightly off to the right. I want to open up the pen and carefully realign the nib with the body.

Another problem I have with my Hero 100 is that it dries up too quickly. If I leave the pen uncapped for a few seconds and resume writing, it will not start immediately. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

Thanks
psfred
Do a quick search on "hero 100" to find the specific post, but there are several with experiences.

The assembly is NOT like a "51" -- while the hood unscrews, it has a left hand thread (backwards from usual) and it's sealed on with shellac, so you will have to heat it. I believe there is a sleeve as well instead of a solid section, and the nib and collector are keyed into the hood -- nib alignment may not be adjustable unless it has a "51" style nib without the locator tab.

Once you get it apart, pull the nib and check for proper slit gap and tip alignment -- too tight a nib slit will cause clogging, and misaligned tips will cause hard starts and scratchiness.
