Final bump for Carene only. This pen is now Dbay for $124.95 which is close to what they sell for there. Yet LOYAL FPN MARKETPLACE still only $110 plus $5 shipping until it sells on Dbay. I'm trying smile.gif!

If I didn't already own this model...I'd snap this one up! That's a great price for an amazing writer with extraordinary styling. It's brass bodied and has a little heft to it but, it balances well in the hand. The unusual shape to the nib and barrel end really set this one apart from most moderns.

P.S. No affiliation with the seller...just an admirer of the pen

I should add that the 'brass bodied' pertains only to the barrel. This is the Carene 'Deluxe' model which means the cap is actually vermeil (sterling silver plated with gold).

Although I APPRECIATE the testimonial, and while this pen shares the exact nib, body structure and writing characteristics of the Carene Deluxe, this is NOT the vermeil cap. The "special edition" Carene has a "Gold Toned" cap which is the same finish apearance and design but not sterling overlaid with gold.

Thus, the price is roughly 50% of the Deluxe. So...same writing experience, lower price.

Thanks

I apologize if I'm mistaken. But, every site I've looked at (including Waterman's) shows the 'standard' collection with caps that match the barrel. The amethyst model is no longer in production, so it's difficult say with certainty, but I have not been able to find any information that says there was a 'standard' and a 'deluxe' model with the amethyst color. Here's a site with a large size image of the pen (looks like yours) selling for $192.50 and it is described as being a vermeil capped pen. If Waterman did make a non-deluxe version of the Carene Amethyst, I'm willing to stand corrected. If you have a reference that can verify this information, I'd really like to see it.
