Hey there, Sheaffer fans. This was a garage/estate sale find several years ago by my mother. I know it's a Duofold (because it says so on the barrel), and it has a metal pump filler, but I don't know much beyond that. Any ideas as to its age and/or what the nib would have been made of, etc?

And incidentally, if anyone is interested in buying and restoring it, just let me know. It would certainly need work, and I'm only at the novice, or "Estie J" phase in the repair-education process! Definitely beyond my level of expertise.

I'm not wise enough to say this with authority, but it looks like someone's had the original point out of that and swapped it for a Vacumatic's.

And stop trying to tempt me into spending money! Actually, I would advise hanging onto it as a "next level" project when you're feeling up to it. I thought it would take ment a lot longer to tackle resacking a Snorkel than it did, and getting that pen to a point of writing again shouldn't be too giant a task-- it's a button-filler, and they're not much more effort than an Estie's lever-fill set-up.

Hmmm. Hey, we're not in the Parker forum. headsmack.gif

Hi,

Vac-style arrow-motif nibs can be correct on late streamlined DF's.

Ha! I have no idea what brain lapse led me to put this in the Sheaffer forum instead of the Parker. Anyway, thanks for the input. Maybe I'll play with it a bit when I get some time.

A Parker Duofold is an easy resac job if all else is ok. The section can be removed with a little heat from a hair dryer. You have a Streamlined Duofold so that would date it in the late 1920's to early 30's, it has an arrow nib versus the Duofold nib but as David mentioned that can be correct. The size Junior or Senior can be determined by the length. 4.5" or so a Junior and over 5" a Senior. It looks to have a fair amount of corrosion and a loose cap band but with a little cleaning it will look much better. It is a button filler with the button under the little cap on the bottom. If the pressure bar is in good shape then a sac will be all you need to get it working.
