UNIQUE WATERMAN DISPLAY LUCITE HEXAGON LOGO CUBE IN ORIGINAL BOX – N.M.!

This is a rare find – so rare that my co-collectors and I have not been able to find another one like it anywhere. It’s a breathtaking Waterman Lucite hexagon logo cube measuring 5.25”H x 5.5”W x 2”D and weighing more than 1.5 lbs.!

Condition is near-mint, and as best as I can tell it’s in its original box. I say “best as I can tell” because as I mentioned above I haven’t been able to find any reference on this item whatsoever.

It’s a stunning conversation piece for any Waterman collector, that’s for sure. But where did it come from? Why was it made?

The consensus around here is that this is a one-of-a-kind that was made for a trade show or convention display or a prototype of a dealer display item that dealers weren’t interested in buying and Waterman subsequently didn’t produce in any quantity. The very plain, unadorned box seems to support this hypothesis. However, if anyone knows anything about this item, send me an email. PLEASE!

Starting price: $325 obo

PAYMENT & SHIPPING:
I accept PayPal, cashier’s check, and money order. Item(s) ships upon confirmed receipt of payment. Please allow extra time for check, money order, or eCheck payment to clear. I estimate S&H at $12.25 via USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate (insurance additional). However, I will confirm S&H costs with the buyer.

All questions answered honestly and promptly. And yes, additional photos are available upon request.

Thanks for looking. And be sure to check out the other Watermans I have for sale. (If you’re looking for something in particular, please ask. I have some 200 Waterman pens I’m selling.)

Good Morning!

The piece is strictly a display item given to bigger dealers for use in their diplay cases, towers or windows. I had two towers when I was a dealer, during the Gillette regime, and had one in each tower. I also have several clocks in that shape, a little smaller, but made out of blue glass & were used as an incentive or give-a-way when a customer purchased Waterman pens (along with other incentive gift items!).

Gillette was good at display & incentive items but unfortunately didn't pay close enough attention to what the consumer (or dealers) really wanted/needed in terms of new pen models. You know the rest, they eventually had to sell off the company, which went to another big corporation who has done better, but still not by much. I started dealing with Waterman direct in the late 70's & it was on a very personal level, manufacturer to dealer, but became very impersonal when the big Corps. stepped in

I guess don't get me started because while progress is supposed to good, it doesn't always work that way...ahhhhh, the good ol' days!

Cheers!

Thanks for the clarification. And yes, corporations are rather adept at destroying a brand's tradition, aren't they? >:(
