Full Version: Dumb Cartridge Question

I've been getting some of the new Sheaffer Slovenian ink carts lately and I can see they are made a bit differently. I had thought Sheaffer was switching to the new "international" cart style, but I really can't tell and haven't yet tried to force one into a generic cart pen.

Is one end old Sheaffer style and the other international? Neither? Please tell--dim minds like mine want to know!

thanks, Dan
Steve
I don't think they are international size at all. I think all they did was redesign the cart so that you could put it in backwards and not puncture it, so as to be able to carry on plane, etc. until you get where you're going, then turn it around and you're ready to write.

Hi,

Sheaffer makes international cartridges for their Reacktor. International cartridges fit Sheaffer pens.

Yes - Sheaffer simply redesigned the existing cylindrical cartridge so that they only puncture one way. The plug that seals the cartridge serves as an indentation where the cart can be stored in the pen without puncturing. The plug is also supposed to reflect the ink color, though I don't know how well it does that.

Hi,

Yes, at one point they made their existing cartridges that were opaque and punctured only one way. New cartridges have more nearly translucent bodies. Then, the Sheaffer international is completely opaque and is punctured in ony one way.

Count on Jim to give good answers, he is retailer and collector. biggrin.gif
