I did a couple searches but couldn't find any info on buying replacement J-bars for Esties. Does anyone know who might have some to sell, and how much they would cost? Thanks!

Excellent, thanks. Do you know off-hand if I would need the "long" or "short" for J's, LJ's and SJ's?
Gerry
The short one will do nicely.

They are also available from Wood Bin - Here

I posted a question about that myself, and never got an answer (that I recall)

How are the j-bars measured? The one I need to replace (rusty) is about 5.4 cm long on the long end TO the curve. But it's 6.2 cm long along the curve to the actual end. So, which is the 'right' measurement?

All Esties will take the 54mm J-bar. Mind the spacer at the back of the barrel (usually like a pencil eraser), as I occasionally have to cut them down a tad so the bar goes into the barrel far enough to leave some room between the end of the section and bar. Otherwise the bar can tear the sac right where it comes off the nipple of the section.

I highly recommend Martin from the Woodbin.

Also,

It's the 54mm one, I suggest rebending at the same lenght as the original one, in SJ it's about 45mm long. The you cut the surplus on the top (end of the hook that goes at the bottom of the barrel)

My first J-bar, I cut at the bottom thinking I could then either refold the metal to clip it or soldier it. Both option are not very practicable. Wasted 3.5$... but learned how to install a J-Bar.

Ah - sounds reasonable. It'd be nice if the places had better information on it, but they're just out to make a buck like the rest of us.

I'll probably order a bundle of 10 from the Pen Sac company, because I have two Wearevers, three or four esterbrooks, and a couple of miscellaneous pens that if I can get them disassembled, I'll be resacing as well.

I was going to get the J-bars from Tryphon, but I'll check the woodbin as well.

I plan on making sure that all this kind of info is available at Penpedia once we go live.
