Full Version: Loose cap on a Duke

I bought a Duke pen from aikideal on ebay. The cap is loose. Not that i falls off right away. It is just not firmly capped. Slightly shaking the pen you can hear the rustling. I emailed the seller a couple times but all fell onto deaf ear. Is there a simple fix? Or should I go all the miles using PayPal dispute to knock the seller out some sense?

Thanks!!!

I hate to agree with you about a fellow FP dealer, but I have had the same experience with this seller. I feel that he is more into the making dollars thereafter selling a product that he could stand behind. I bestowed the seller a strong negative and PayPal did nothing either. I think if we spread the word over the network to stay clear on ebay this might work in the long run more what do you think?

Did you receive any PM's on this question? I have a no-name (assume Asian made?) pen with a snap off cap that's become extremely loose with time. I'd love to find a remedy, as it has a fine nib which writes well. I looked in Mr. Dubiel's repair book -he has a section on caps- but it looks like his remedy is to make a sort of thin ring on a metal lathe and then press it into the cap to create more friction (???)

I don't have access to a lathe or the knowledge to use one.

I "fixed" a Duke with this problem by sliding a tight-fitting rubber ring, probably an O-ring, over a spot on the body of the pen.
