Hello -
In my search for a replacement for my bent Osmiroid copperplate nib, I found this site! I think I'm home!

Welcome to FPN, Clare. Glad you found us and good luck finding the nib. I haven't ever seen an Osmiroid copperplate nib. Lots of calligraphy nibs though.
Take care and welcome.

Welcome to FPN!
If it helps you any, I think Osmiroid and Esterbrook nibs are interchangable -- though I've never heard of an Esterbrook copperplate nib either.

Welcome aboard, Clare. Just curious - was it specifically labeled a Copperplate nib, or is it one that is suitable for Copperplate? Just curious.

Thanks, all, for your welcome! Southpaw, yes, the nib was actually labeled Copperplate right below the word Osmiroid. I have a couple bids placed on Ebay for just the very nib - so here's hoping. I always thought Copperplate would be beyond me but incredibly I had some neat results with that nib. Again thanks for the welcoming posts - made my day!

Hi Clare! Let me join the others in welcoming you to this crazy place (I am a newbie here too!)
Can you post an example or two of your copperplate results? I love copperplate but have a hard time getting the nib to cooperate and not stab the paper to death

I'd love to see your work!
- Marina.

Hi, Marina - maybe someday I'll get the nerve (and know-how to post something)! I have the "stabbing" problem you mentioned with regular copperplate nibs but that Osmiroid cartridge nib seemed more suitable for all the pressure I inadvertently always lay on my point. I just cleaned off part of my work area and found some "lost" nibs, maybe they'll fill in for my beloved "O" . Hope to see your work soon!

Clare - Welcome to a place that really isn't the nuthouse some make it out to be but rather, filled with some of the nicest people you would ever want to hang out with.
Okay... I'll admit that Wim is a little mad but then again, he's Dutch.
The Osmiroid copperplate nib does indeed exist but they aren't very common at all... I would hope that you find a replacement at a reasonable price.

Hi, Keith - I just had to say Hi back to someone who actually might be somewhere cold?? Ahh, that sounds nice. Anyway, just lost 2 bids on my Osmiroid on Ebay, with one more try to go. Hope you have a nice evening!

Hi Ron -
Thanks for the Welcome...is that an example of your beautiful Copperplate? Oh, I can tell exploring the talents of the folks on this site will be very inspirational! BTW, I'm from Pennsylvania -once muggy; tonight not too bad.

Hi Sonnet -
I just checked out your web page and saw your birthday. I guess I'm not your mother, my daughter was a September baby. But I bet your mom's pretty neato anyway!

Welcome, Clare!
I recently sold an Osmiroid copperplate nib, but it was the old style that fits the Esterbrook pens as well as Osmiroid pens. If you don't win the bid for the cartridge style, you may want to keep your eyes open for the old style, since an Esterbrook pen to use it in doesn't cost a lot and they come in pretty, marbled colors.
Best regards,
Ann

If you don't mind, what did you sell it for? I'm trying to establish an expectation of what various Estie and Estie compatible nibs are worth...

Gerry,
It's part of item #2 on my listing in Marketplace, page 2. (Tried to put the link in, with the "http://" button, but that didn't work.)
Sorry I can't be of more help on this. I've never tried one of these nibs and don't know what they should go for.
Best, Ann

Clare... It's funny that for this past week it has been unusually cold and wet with the temperatures getting dangerously close to freezing.
Summer in Alberta can be interesting and today the skies are blue and the mercury is creeping back to where it's supposed to be for this time of year and I expect to see some mid 70's temperatures. When I got up this morning it was only 34 F which makes for quite the bracing ride home.
