Full Version: Broken decimo ring

My decimo is currently my favourite pen in rotation, so I was quite dismayed when yesterday I pulled it out and heard a "clang" and found that this small ring near the "clicky button" had fallen off. I'm not sure if you can tell in the picture, but it looks as though the black plastic type substance lining the inside of the ring has cracked and broken off. I'm guessing it can be glued back on, but I don't know what kind of glue would be best in this case, any suggestions?

I'm not sure what Pilot's policy on this type of thing is, so I don't know if I can send it back for repair/replacement, seeing as the decimo is not currently distributed in North America (I purchased from a seller in Japan, Ujuku, a number of months ago). Click to view attachment

You are going to have to use a good epoxy cement - one that takes several hours to harden, not the 5 minute variety.

Take care that you don' get epoxy on the mechanism inside the pen, clamp the ring in place, and walk away from it for 24 hours. That urge to "test" the bond before it's set is a good way to insure failure.

Thanks Ron, is there a particular brand that you would recommend? I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this kind of thing...
