Full Version: The problem with my Parker 51...

...is that it's a little too small for my tastes. I wish it had a bit more girth and I wish it were slightly longer unposted. I have no problem with the balance, cap posted or otherwise but the pen could have a bit more heft if it were up to me.

Other than that, nothing to complain about but as I look back at what I've just written, I realize that I just lodged a rather large complaint. While the pen writes perfectly and it's superbly build, it doesn't fit my hand as well as I wish it would. Bummer. It's a personal thing I know but still, bummer.

I guess that's why I still quest for the perfect pen. But at least I've already found the perfect writer.

Which 51 do you have? Standard or Demi? SJ/DJ? Vac or aero? Color? Cap (finish, blue diamand, etc.)? Nib size?

Then, if you don't like the fit of your hand, do you have another pen type that you might consider trading for?

I prefer the Vacumatics. I like the colors, the exposed nibs, and screw on caps. I also like the larger sizes (Maximas). But I will say that the 51 is an awesome pen. I tend to use them more as they are such good writers and I just consider them workhorses.

Consider a Parker 100. It's not a "51", but it's a good pen, and it's bigger and heavier.

Another option- somewhat more costly- would be one of the South American custom Parker "51" Magnum. Think FPH had 'em. Probably they crop up at pen shows.

Guys, you really need to think outside the box. The answer is, of course, elective hand size reduction surgery!
