Hi
I have recently acquired working twist filling Mont Blanc (Carrera) and Pelikan (20 Silvexa) pens. Since these brands have not been within my collecting and maintaining purview, I know very little about them. I am curious about their function in regard to the filling mechanism. Are there any diagrams, photos or such type of info on these fillers? Mine function fine and need no servicing, but they are a bear to flush clean for color changing. My technical curiosity is getting the best of me.
Richard
I hate to pick nits, but these are not twist fillers, they're piston fillers. The knob at the back of the barrel turns a leadscrew that drives the piston up and down in the barrel.

A twist filler uses a sac whose back end is attached to a knob at the end of the barrel. Turning the knob twists, or "wrings out," the sac to expel air; releasing allows the sac to regain its normal shape, drawing ink in as it does so.

Aww, admit it, Richard; you love to pick nits. But that's what I was counting on! thumbup.gif
You answered my inquiry perfectly. Thanks.

Having never played with one of these before, I had no idea what was going on inside so "twist filler" was just tongue-in-cheek.

The MB's nib writes very nicely in a firm medium but I'm not used to the very flexy nib on the Silvexa. I've read this was considered a student pen but even the Esterbrook J's felt better to me. Perhaps I need lessons on writing better with flex nibs. I was never the greatest calligrapher. roflmho.gif
