Full Version: Tiny hole in Townsend Selectip?

Hi,

I noticed there's a small round hole, almost 1 mm in diameter, right near the opening for the tip of the pen, in the section. This is on a new Titanium Townsend Selectip (rollerball), so it's in the gold-plated end of the pen. Is the hole supposed to be there? Maybe for equalization of pressure? There's no such hole in my old Century II Selectip.

It's not a big deal, since I'll be using a fountain pen section instead, but thought I'd ask anyway.

Thanks,

-Mike

The hole is a vent hole to allow air to enter so the refill won't air lock while writing. On a CII the air enters through broached channels in the hole where the refill protrudes in the point.

Thanks for the clarification, refillczar! And just now I peeked into my Century II SP and can see the tiny channels --- never would've noticed them if you hadn't pointed them out.
