My favorite Cross pen would be one made by Cross.
Anyway, out of the four I own (Verve, Townsend, Century II, ATX), I think I like the Townsend the best,

No question for me. It's my Kelly Green Cross Solo XF. Awesome pen. Lightweight, EXCELLENT Japanese XF nib, and cheap!

What is your favorite Cross Pen?
Mine is definitely the Cross Townsend Lapis Blue, now sadly discontinued. Probably the most beautiful pen ever made by Cross. I have both the FP and BP versions, I'm pleased to say.

That's a very tough question....I have three cross pens that I really, really like.
1. Cross 150th Anniversary Sterling Fountain pen
2. Cross Lapis Townsend Fountain pen
3. My 1902 Cross Eyedropper with very flexible nib.
Actually, I like all the Townsend series fountain pens. They are all great writers.
Best regards,

I nearly second that. My Kelly Green Solo is an F, not an XF. Second the awesome, and all the remaining description, with the exception of the X in front of the F.

For me:
1 - Titanium Townsend
2 - Apogee
3 - ATX low third, section too slippery
The Townsend is the pen all others are compared against.

I have a Cross fountain pen that I paid only $30.00. I don't recall the exact model name, but it is a great writer. Based on the low end price, someone might know what it is. The cap is threaded so it must be turned to remove it. Unable to post a photo right now.

The ATX medalist was the first that I owned, and a very nice pen. I also have a collection of Solo pens, and they are very hard to beat. I am not at all sure why this format has not been applied to other pens, but the nibs are very smooth, and the cap secures very well to both ends.

I like my Tech3, medium diameter, black, red ink and pencil. Writing is very smooth and the twist action mechanism works well.
Don't see the need for the small eraser though.

I don't own many Cross pens but my interest in them has been reignited.
I purchased a wonderful silver Verve just after they came out - great look, feel and balance. A very special pen.
I recently acquired a silver Townsend in a trade - I was quite impressed by its writing and feel. I always think of Cross pens as being thin and I like some girth to my pens; I was pleasantly surprised when the Townsend was added to the trade offer and took the deal. I have been checking out the different colours of the Townsend, thinking I might buy another one. The Lapis is certainly high on the preferred list - gorgeous pen!
A number of members of my pen club own the silver 150 Anniversary Cross - this pen is one of the few bold designs by Cross, with its zigzag pattern and the three black bands, it creates a stunning look, imho.
I purchased a red Apogee set for my daughter and she loves them.
While they may not get as much credit as they deserve, as well as put out a few stinkers here and there, at least they are trying to innovate with their designs like the Verve, Apogee, Autocross, etc.

While I am principally a vintage collector, I have the Lapis Townsend and the 150th Anniversary pen. They are both exceptional. The 150th has one of the most gorgeous nibs I've ever encountered. Both pens glide across the paper like they are divinely inspired. I also like pens with girth, but these Cross pens have the heft that feels good despite their svelte appearance. I highly recommend both.

My Metropolis was my first quality fountain pen and dozens of more expensive vintage and contemporary pens later it remains one of the best writers I've ever used. The nib was extraordinary and I love the art deco look, the weight, and everything about the pen.

I've got a Century II that I rather like. It was my first "real" FP, and there are some things I don't like about it, but I had the nib reground to a .5mm stub, and I really like writing with it.

I'd have to say that my favorite Cross is my old Century in classic black. It has a fine nib. I found it on eBay about a month or so ago, and it's in near mint condition. That's my only Cross FP at the moment. I have at least a dozen Cross BPs that I've accumulated over the past 20 years, but my favorite Cross that's not a FP is my humble Classic Century RB in chrome.

I only have one model of Cross pen - although by an odd quirk, I have two of them: the Cross Century II.
I love how smoothly and wet they write; since my signature mark in handwriting is a heavy black line, their medium nibs work perfectly with Noodler's Black...

In all fairness, though, this post can hardly be called a comparison.

My favorite Cross pen is the Solo, F nib. I have a green one, with converter, and I love it. It was one of the first pens I bought when I jumped back into my former addiction, and I even bought a few to give as gifts, which I still have.

My daily writer is a black lacquer Townsend with gold trim; the nib (M) is either 14 or 18k. I'm not too interested in Cross pens as a whole...this one's just got a lot of sentimental value. (My first FP. My grandparents gave it to me...late middle school, I'm guessing.)
Long before I knew how much it was worth...or even how to use it!
When the cartridge ran dry the first time, I filled the converter up with some purple Higgins Black Magic. Yikes! Not an FP-safe ink...and I never washed anything out! Years later I unearthed said mess, panicked, and ran the Koh-I-Noor Rapido-EZE cleaning solution I use on my dip pens through the converter/nib unit a few times.
Not a perfect solution—but it resurrected my pen, so I was happy. (Probably helped that Higgins' ink is relatively cruddy; if I'd been using a higher-quality ink back then, I might not have been so successful!)

Without any doubt the Townsend Lapis Lazuli
but not until these nice people in Luton changed the fine nib to a medium
and I changed the Cross ink which used to dry up while writing (too old perhaps?)
for a common Parker 'Quink'
I now use the really excellent Rohrer&Klingner Leiziger Schwarz black ink

Has to be my Townsend Sienna with GT, beautifully hefty with length and grasp. I like to cap it and enjoy it swing my handwriting style into aciton. Might be too much on a long writing session. Might need the Apogee, with its girth and shorter length for that...or a Waterman Carene. Hmmm...

I like the Verve. It has an interesting design, comprised of ovals of different sizes. It also is a larger and wider pen, unlike Cross's other offerings.

I have four favorites:
1. Black Townsend with gold trim
2. Lapis Lazuli Townsend with gold trim
3. 18K Gold Townsend
4. Sienna Brown Townsend with gold trim
Cross has always done excellent work with silver and gold. I prefer the gold.

What? Only one vote for Pinnacle? Don't get me wrong, I love my Townsends. I have 8 of them. But, my favorite is my Pinnacle Bordeaux with Sterling cap. The Peacock color is nice, too. I'm still trying to find an Amber model. Of my Townsends, I think my favorite is the Translucent Green. What a beautiful color!

Wow. I'm really in the minority here! Although I'm primarily a fountain pen user and I like a number of my Cross fountain pens, I'd have to vote the classic Cross Century ballpoint as my favorite Cross pen. It really is an American icon; it is an absolutely classic, instantly recognizable pen all over the world. As to which classic Century ballpoint, it is a toss up between the 14K gold filled model (which I got as a law school graduation present and have used, on and off, ever since) and the 14K solid gold model (which I bought on eBay) and then had Cross engrave with my initials in "deep fill black". There is an understated elegance to that pen -- a quiet kind of luxury. I also like the classic Century ballpoint in sterling silver and the "Classic Black" finish that came out initially in the early 80s when I was a young lawyer.
For rollerballs, I again am drawn to the classic Century model -- though the Century II's may be a sturdier design.
For fountain pens, I'm quite a fan of the Century II -- a vast improvement, reliability wise, over the original Century fountain pen. I do wish they made the Century II in some nicer and more interesting finishes. (They seem to reserve those for the Townsend).
I love the look of the Townsend in Lapis, in Jade, and in some of the newer finishes like Citrine and Garnet. But I have always found them a bit heavy and awkward to write with -- in any mode. Not to mention that they're not really jacket or shirt pocket friendly! I've always wondered why Cross didn't expand the Townsend line by adding a mid-size version as many other companies do (e.g. the Omas 360, the Visconti Van Gogh).
Among the newer designs, I like the Century Signet the best. The lacquered lines, also used in the anniversary pens, evoke vintage Cross pens. Very cool, I think.

My favorite is my Pinnacle, closely followed by the Verve, then Townsend. Metropolis is nice but a little too skinny, and my Century Classic in chrome is both too skinny and too slippery.

I know what you mean about the Century Classic. I am using mine with some modifications.
the cushioning costs me very little - but much gives me and my pen much joy.....it breaks the elegant lines, makes it look hideous. but its My Fav Monster....
