Full Version: Bad Nib? Need Advise!

Hi everyone!

I have what I think might be a problem, but I need your advise.

I received yesterday a new Pelikan M805 with an F nib that I ordered from a well-known retailer. When I look at the slit in the nib (nib pointed up with the barrel of the pen below it), the slit is cut so that it angles slightly to the left of center. The slit itself is a straight line, but that line angles ever so slightly from the breather hole to the left edge of the tipping material, not straight through the center of the tipping material. Very minor and only slightly off-center...but off-center nonetheless.

Is that normal?

I don't have my magnifying glass with me, but from what I can see the slit goes up the centre of the nib.

Any reputable dealer will swap it out for you. Just make sure that you are happy with the width so that you can ask for the same or different nib, if you know what I mean!

Hi Darin,

If you are in the US and are unhapppy about the nib contact you retailer and see if they can help you out if not then contact Chartpak who are the US distributors for Pelikan to find out if you need to send the whole pen or just the nib back to them..

If you are somewhere else you need to find out who your regional distributor is but before doing this you should contact the retailer, most retailers value their reputation and would be happy to sort out your problem or at least help you to do so.

Best of luck,

Cheers, John

I would too swap it out if I were you. You are paying good money for this pen and it should be flawless.

Swap it out, either via Chartpak or your original dealer.

Thanks, everyone! It is pretty clear what I need to do.
