Here is a Parker "51" that the hood needs to make about one more turn to seat but when I do this the nib does not line up. Do I take it back off and try again? I just cleaned/flushed it tonight and would like to start using it. My apologies for the picture quality. Picture 5 is what is left to turn and picture 6 is the nib with the gap (or what's left to turn)
Edit- I miss spoke above. I have a concern in making the final rotation because it feels very tight now. I assume the nib will line up with the hood as it was before

Remove the nib/feed/collector assembly. Screw the shell on dry until it stops. Take careful note of its exact position. Unscrew it again. Reinstall the nib/feed/collector assembly, aligning it so that the shell won't quite line up when you screw it down again. (Ideally, the point of the shell should lie right on the outer edge of the right tine -- test this to be sure you have it.) Remove the shell once more. Apply a light bead of shellac all the way around the barrel threads -- not sloppy or drippy, just enough that the threads are full. Install the shell, and snug it up. Force it just that little bit more, using a loupe for guidance, until the point of the shell is exactly centered on the nib. If any shellac squeezed out, use Simichrome on a cotton flannel rag to clean it off before it dries.

Just in case Richard's instructions are not clear, you align the nib/collector/feed assembly to the hood, not the hood to the nib assembly.
Usually the collector will rotate in the section, so you can twist it 'round a bit to get the nib in the correct spot.

Well, after a few more careful tries I got it. That last rotation was still "snugg" and all I could think of was "hey moron, these are plastic threads". I cracked the barrel of a very nice Wearever a week ago trying to get the nib out so I'm a little gun shy here of late.
Thanks for the input.
