Full Version: Problem inside section?

I have a Waterman Exclusive FP (Green Marbled Laquer) purchased in the early 1990's. Have loved it but now it does not function properly crybaby.gif - leaking ink, etc. I'm a novice to FP's embarrassed_smile.gif but the culprit seems to be the tube (not sure what the part is called) inside the section that punctures a new ink cartridge when it is inserted in the FP barrel. Hard to see in there (everything inside is black) but the tube seems bent to one side. Feeling carefully with a toothpick there is tighter clearance between this tube and the inside wall of the section at one point than around the rest of the perimter.

It seems this tube should hit the cartridge squarely in the center and being off to one side as it is, it does not allow the cartridge to seat properly in the section and is allowing an air leak and thus ink to leak. I have never used the converter but it might allow a better "fit" inside the section and solve the leaking though I still think the problem is real and should be fixed.

Question #1 is: can that thing (feeder tube?) insde the section be carefully bent to a more centered position?

Another problem is I think this leaking ink has caused the gold trim near the nib to corrode and most has come off the end of the section. It is cometic of course but perhaps I have had a defective FP all along. Any chance Waterman would replace the section? [I have already seen some leads on this forum where some users have parts I need to replace the section.]

Thanks for reading ... and any guidance anyone can give.

Sorry to bump my own post (hope that does not violate a hard and fast forum rule), but surely someone on here knows an answer - or can offer a very educated guess about what my options are. I have studied some and I believe the part that apears to be damaged or bent inside the section is called the "nipple".

Call Parker/Waterman. If they still have the parts, they can replace your defective parts.
Corrosion of the metal trim near the nib of those pens is a common problem.

The nipple is bent or broken, which does happen when using cartridges. It needs maintenance; most probably the replacement of the feeder, as the nipple is part of it.

As Luca mentions, it requires the replacement of the ink feed, the nipple is part of that. They should still be easily available, at least over here they are.

HTH, warm regards, Wim
