I recently saw a Mont Blanc at a pen show and it was said to be a 146. However, I wasn't really sure if it was real. For one thing, there were no lines in the ink window, it was just clear like a pelikan. The nib wrote 4810 but it was just one tone, which was gold. Can anyone tell me if this MB was a fake?
Thanks

Perhaps the 146 you saw was an older model. I have a newer 146, which has the stripped window and the two tone nib. But I have seen vintage 146s (which I believe were genuine) that have the single tone gold nib and clear ink window.

The 146 has had design changes over the years, but for some time they did have single-tone gold nibs and clear ink windows.

Yes, my 146 from 1977 has an all-gold color nib and a clear ink window with no "bars" like the 149 of today. And the clip is surprisingly thin - I think later they fattened them up a bit (but I hear the quality is not as good as the old ones in other ways...)
