OK, this week was inspired by my peacock. He's just about down to a short tail having lost most of his long feathers as they do this time of year. In 1939 Sheaffer had a small round base with a peacock. This is one of those pieces you cannot appreciate from the catalogue. Up close and personal or with closeup color photos you can see what a nice piece it is. Issued as G255 for $7.50 on colored Pedrara onyx. This one odly enough came with a WASP socket as the socket simply pops out it is easy to swap these out, I just wouldn't know why you would.
The other bird relates to last weeks topic of lightly documented 1931-34 pieces. Related to the peacock is the pheasant. Much like the elephant on the small triangle which is number 32E this one will be 22something - 22P for pheasant 22(x) whatever they coded it - don't know, still a bit of a mystery.
The value today would be about $50 for the peacock and $150 for the pheasant.
