Full Version: Looking for: black jewel and GF tassie ring for
The Fountain Pen Network > Brand Focus > The Parker Forum

Hi,

I'm posting this request that someone out there might have some parts that would fit the missing jewel and tassie ring from the blind cap of my otherwise beautiful black Vacumatic Standard with lockdown filler. This is the one with horizontal clear stripes, not the reticulated one. It's a full size, 3 cap band version. Or, a complete blind cap for this.

I'm willing to pay an reasonable price for it. Hoping to get lucky. Haven't been so far.

Mahalo,
Walter

What is it about those first gen tassie rings that make them disappear?
SMG
Because they are made of unobtanium or some such rare and exotic material which mysteriously vanishes when exposed to the air for more than 60 years.

Either that or a bad design smile.gif NOT that I am saying Vacs are bad designs, but there are alot of these tassies missing of late. They are probably somewhere with all of my socks that went awol in the dryer. glare.gif

There are repro tassies available on ebay (again no affiliation with the seller) but good luck with the jewels.

Cheers,
Sean

I'm also looking for three tassie rings for junior series vacumatics, going to attempt to make the jewels, black plastic, using one I have as the pattern for the mould. As with the op, if any one has got spare tassie rings for these pens, please get in touch, I haven't seen any on the other e-bay sources of bits and bobs, mystery to me why they are removed, from perfectly good pens.

Good luck on your search!

Not sure if they were removed. :-) In my case, I found them missing after my wife handed me the pen one morning heading out to the door to work. I have no idea when the jewel and ring might have unscrewed itself from the blind cap and gone AWOL. Apparently, it happens. :-(

Maybe a Parker repair expert out there can tell us if there are same size rings from other Parker models that would fit and serve as a replacement?

Aloha,
Walter
