Full Version: Acid test on new VP

I gave my new VP carbonesque the acid test today, I took it in to court during callover as my main pen, I did have several other FPs as backups but they were not needed, the VP handeled everything I could throw at it and came up aces, I had filled it with Visconti Black, a fairly somber colour but matched the seriousness of the occasion, my only concern was that I would run out of ink, as I did have rather a lot of cases to deal with, but no the pen is still good to go, I threw various media at it and no matter how poor the quality of paper, cardboard and even stickers at one point, the pen handeled it, and always retracted nicely out of the way in between cases.
So while I was a little reluctant at first to get one of these I am more than happy that I branched out of the "FP's should have caps" mode that I was in.

Thanks for posting your success story. What size nib does your VP have? Usually the smaller the nib, the longer the ink supply lasts. So I was wondering if that worked to your benefit here.

Mine has a medium nib, which I find is about the same size as my Lamy2000 EF and my Van Gogh F, which is rather coincidental I guess, I have so far only used the converter on the CP, I am thinking about trying the cartridges to see if they will give me more capacity, I have read somewhere that people like them and refill them...but I am not sure what the ink in them is like.

The cartridges are reputed to hold more ink, and if you empty one, you could refill it with your favorite ink. The Namiki ink isn't bad - worth a try. In a working situation like yours, having a spare cartridge handy is always comforting. Don't forget to put the metal cartridge shield over the cartridge. That should have come with your VP, but is available separately if not.
