Hey guys...
This is probably a very trivial topic, but i wanted to know - Is there any specific way to clean out the dust and whatever-else...that gets trapped under the clip on the cap of your fountain pen?
Or are tehre little tricks that you personally use to clean out the undersides of your pen-clips?
I ask because my pens (and I'm sure they're not the only ones), tend to gather a lot of crap in the space between the pen-cap, and the underside of the clip. Stuff like dust and lint and all that, from being stored in pockets etc.
How do you/what is the best way - To clean this space, to get all that crud out?
Thanks,
Shangas.

You could try getting an artist's paintbrush with fine and soft synthetic bristles, and use it to sweep away any lint etc.

Microfiber cloth, and canned, or compressed air.

Wear it in the pocket of a shirt you're not too fond of.
I'm half-way serious on this, astonishingly. What better to get up under a pocket clip than a pocket? Give it a little lateral travel before removing it, and most muck will stay on the short.

If it's not ebonite or casein, you can put the cap into an ultrasonic cleaner. It works well for my 'P51' cap.
I suppose you could floss the underside of the clip, too.

Lloyd's sounds like the best answer for me so far. I'll try that, thanks!!

I usually use a damp handkerchief--slides under the clip nicely and doesnt fall apart like a paper towel. Ultrasonic cleaners work well too.

Yup, me too. But I do not get paranoid about the lint and stuff. I just clean under the clips periodically. Some of my pens with sterling silver furniture even look a bit black and funky and I tend to like it that way.

Try using a toothpick.
Good luck,
