Hello everyone!

I'm a somewhat new FP user who has been lurking around here for.... longer than I care to admit lticaptd.gif and finally decided to break my silence and post a question! *gasp*

The situation is as follows: I'm entering grad school, and my time is split between sitting in an office and working in a lab (no nasty chemicals fortunately). Because of my new FP addiction, I have a Lamy Accent and Brilliant Accent which I like to carry around with me all the time. I'd like to get a two slot pen holder to protect them as I work, but have been having issues finding pen holders with the necessary loop to hook onto my belt. While carrying the case in a pocket is an option, I would like the ability to have the pens more readily accessible. So my question is, are there two-pen "holsters" out there which I can stick on a belt and what kind of luck have people had with them? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello and welcome!
I bought one from Levenger in the 90s. I don't think I have seen them since. It is a three pen holster that you loop around your belt. I find it to be very useful, but you still have to be careful when you sit down so that the pens don't poke at you.
Good luck in your search!

And there was me thinking that whole 'pen is mightier than the sword' business was just figurative!

I don't know if this will help but Crumpler makes tons of little bags and such that are great for what you need. They are also great for cell phones...very secure. (my husband's cell phone kept coming loose...the clip-on type, until I got him one of these handy little bags .Check them out.....at crumpler.com

When I was in college I used a small camera case with a belt loop to carry my various pens/pencils and my HP 42S calculator.

I know this is not exactly what you are looking for, but I offer for your consideration. I have a couple of these, and I love them.

Pocket Organizer

I've been considering one of these for about a year now. What are the dimensions?
Wizergig
It measures about 5/8 inch thick with nothing in it, but can expand to about 2 inches thick. 6-3/4 inch tall, and 4-1/4 inches wide. It easily accomodates my Pelikan 200, and my Kaigelu which is fairly large.
Lloyd
Sorry if I'm hijacking this but will it safely hold the pens and a Moleskine (4"x6")? Do you pocket carry it, use the beltloop or toss it in a bag?
Wizergig
Hey Lloyd, I just relized you got my 200th post earlier. WOOHOO thumbup.gif

I am not sure about the moleskin. I have a 4X6 pocket bible which is fairly thick, and it is a very tight fit if I try to slide it in the pocket. If I just open it up, and llay the bible inside it fits perfectly. The bible measures 4 X 6 X 3/4. I have one that I use in my BOB, and the other I just carry with me out to the car, and drop it in the center console. the belt loops would be easy enough to use as they can be unsnapped at the botom, and put on without having to remove your belt. The dual belt loops make a very effecient handle as well. These were originally designed to fit BDU pockets, and to be withdrawn easily. I also have another style that is made by Redhead, and is mainly for hunting gear but is a little larger, and has many more pockets.

Depending on the pants I am wearing I can pocket carry it, but jeans tend to be too small for it to fit with much of anything in it. I usually wear cargo shorts, and it fits all of those pockets very well. Usually if I don't have cargo shorts on though, I have some time of bag, or briefcase with me that I just through it into.

This is the only holster anyone needs:

I don't think I am metrosexual enough for one of those.

I was thinking about this today. I want to make a knife sheath for a folder I have and was thinking how useful one for a pen would be. You could try and pick up a pocket knife sheath and modify it to your needs. Maybe just cut-off the snap closer part. You could try a sheath maker, saddle maker. or maybe even a shoe cobler for a custom solution.

I think some of the pocket knife sheaths could do exactly what you want. Leatherman, buck, etc.

I just tried a hero parker style pen and a pilot 78g in a leather buck 110 sheath. They fit and the sheath snapped shut. It was a little hard to get the snap shut though. My nylon sheath for a benchmade balisong holds the 78G and a Wality Parker style 77C. It also fits a 78g and a wality 69L. So yeah, find a folding knife sheath. The cool thing about the balisong sheath is it can carry vertically or horizontally.

first link that came up. I hope I didn't upload too many pics......I tried to keep them small though.

I know it is a UK based supplier, but you might get some inspiration here: SP Services :: Belt pouches. I have used their stuff working on an ambulance crew and found it good.

Or you could go with these...

I posted about some leather cases that I made. You can see it here (it has large pics so slow band beware). You can easily do the same and make whatever you want!

I was thinking that a Maglite pouch might do, but mine's in the car and I can't be bothered to try it now, but they should be easily available in the US and I would guess could fit 2 pens.
jmkeuning
I have my maglite pouch on my desk and every few days look at it, thinking that it would make a good pen case.

I have the Libelle 2-pen case (with belt loop) shown on this page at the Fountainpen Hospital. I holds my Lamy Al-Star on days I wear a polo. It was exactly what I was looking for, so it will probably work for you too.

Well there are a lot of options, but have you considered a pocket protector? It'll fit right in your shirt pocket and it puts your pens in easy access. It does increase your nerd factor ten fold but at this point, I don't really care and I use mine when I have to move away from the office and need my pens/pencils.
InfernalNeutrino
Wow, a lot of quick responses! I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet (I'm about to start work and I doubt they want me surfing the net...) but I'll probably have something figured out by the end of the day which I will dutifully post smile.gif. Thanks for all your help!
