I see there are quite a few forum members in CT. I figured I would ask:

What is your preferred writing paper, and where do you get it locally?

Thanks. smile.gif

paper depends on the situation. Notes are taken in a Red & Black from Staples, or a Moleskine from a local book store. Journaling in a Moleskine. Correspondence is on stationery from Papyrus. Legal pads are Ampad Gold Fibre from Staples.

I don't know quite what I'm looking for (I'll know when I find it), but there are precious few places to look around here. I'm not thrilled with anything at the Paper Trail in Guilford or the shop (I can't remember its name) on Main Street in Branford. The Borders outlet in the Westbrook outlet mall has some interesting note cards, but there's just nothing left around here that I'd call a stationery store. (Drives me nuts when I ask people if they know of any stationery stores and they suggest Staples.)

It might be a bit of a drive for you, but Fairfield Stationers on the Fairfield/ Westport border is a great place. pretty old school with a bunch of pens, paper, inks and such. They just put up a spinning rack of Crane stationery last time I was there. They're right on the Post Rd.

I've purchased Crane stationery and various other stationery at Papyrus on Evergreen Walk in South Windsor, CT. The last time I was there, I noticed they had a limited supply of Apica notebooks. Although repackaged, they are identical to the Apica notebooks sold on eBay by taylorintherockies. There's also a shop called Ten Thousand Villages in West Hartford Center on Farmington Avenue, directly across from The Bookworm.

Although not located in CT, I also frequent Artist & Craftsman Supply in Boston, MA. I buy my art supplies there, and I also buy Rhodia notebooks by the dozens from them. And of course there's Kate's Paperie in NYC.

To respond to this...
I have been going to The University of Hartford for 4 years now (graduating in a few days!) and I live in downtown Hartford. Honesty, I went to the West Farms mall and just bought a moleskin or two for my infrequent journal writing at Borders. I looked for a stationary store for a long time because I wanted to write thank you cards to my friends and professors before I leave. Instead I ordered online because I really could not find anything to my liking.
