I bought a Wahl Signature Desk Pen with a 14K nib for $7.00 (plus $3.50 shipping) on Ebay. I was the only bidder. I just got it up and running. What a nice nib it has! Anyone else have this pen? Like this pen? Well, I just wanted to share my new find with someone. rolleyes.gif

Way to go! I general, the Wahl Eversharp desk pens carried the same nibs as the regular Wahl-Eversharp line of pens over most of the Wahl Eversharp "era". The pleasure of writing with Wahl-Eversharp nibs is well known, but for some reason people have not discovered that the far lower priced (today) desk pens give the same writing pleasure as the pocket or purse pens of the same era. And to add to my wonderment, most serious writing takes place at a desk! So why such little interest in desk pens?

The name "Signature" was used by Wahl in 2 ways. There was a "Signature" nib that was the semi-flex in the Wahl line of nibs (of which there were 14 or more during most of the era). And, there was the "Signature Pen" which many people have lumped together as the first Wahl Plastic pens from 1926-7-8. These were the pens made just prior to the "gold seal" lifetime guarantee pens of 1928-9-30 1/2. However not all of these were "technically" Signature Pens" either". The true Signature pen was a small slice of the Wahl Pen Line, and ran for about 3 years. Anyway, The Signature Pen was not made as a desk pen as far as I know, but many desk pens have signature nibs. So, if your pen is either plastic or hard rubber (black or mottled) and carries a Signature nib and has no gold seal, this is the case. If yours has a gold seal, it is a Gold Seal pen from the "next" line of Wahl Pens with a Signature Nib.

Hope that is not too confusing.

The nib says "Wahl Signature Pen 14K." The barrel is a nice brown plastic with no writing on it. There are three gold bands around the center where the gold lever is. I have unceremoniously stuck it in a decent looking brown marble Sheaffer holder rigged with some blotter paper inside to improve its fit. It looks good enough and is working... so far.

I have become a big fan of desk pens lately. I'm also a very big fan of Wahl Oxfords.
