I lurked for so long... ninja.gif

then I bought a few pens off The Marketplace... drool.gif

and before I knew it I was way past the point where one could respectably introduce oneself to the group without feeling somewhat foolish. embarrassed_smile.gif

So I made a deal with myself to make my 100th post my introduction, respectably or not. I wanted to write something clever and interesting, clearly something that would take a little time to compose. thumbup.gif

Then I frittered away 96, 97, 98, 99, making impulsive comments of no consequence to anyone, and now I'm up to 100 and I want SO badly to jump into that triangular mystery thing they have going on in Chatter but I'm keeping my word.

And so, an official hello to everyone from lush and green and growing way too fast Asheville NC, US. In my day job, I am the administrator for a group of surgeons. In my next life (and currently on evenings and weekends) I am an apiarist, a beekeeper. M husband and I make lots and lots of mead, and all our products are as organic as possible, considering that the bees range freely.

Like most everyone else here, I love all things FP, and, also like most everyone else here, my collection has grown significantly since stumbling into this forum. I've learned just how little I know about FP, but that's a lot more than I knew before!

Welcome! (If you don't mind being welcomed by someone who hasn't been here as long as you have.)

I spent a year and a half in Asheville in my early twenties. I absolutely adored that town. Lived on Bearden, which runs from Montford to Cumberland and which my father always called "Bear Den." Spent a lot of time playing chess at Stone Soup. Those were the days, for sure.

Splicer, you should come back now. You wouldn't believe the transformation Montford has enjoyed. It's amazing. All of Asheville, really, has been "discovered", not entirely a good thing, but downtown is booming in some very nice ways.

I don't know how long ago that was for you, but I've been here since '84, back when nobody went downtown after 5. Stone Soup is now a Mellow Mushroom Pizza - an apt transition. You'd enjoy another visit, and if you're like a lot of folks, you might not want to leave!

I was in Asheville in the early '90s. I think it was '91 and '92, and yes, I absolutely plan on visiting. I'm not sure I can be torn away from my beloved San Francisco, but I do remember there being a surprising number of similarities. I moved to Asheville from Columbia SC and found it to be an oasis in the South. Only later did I find that the whole South is not like Columbia, but Asheville still stands out as a gem.

Great memories of Asheville: making out with a girlfriend at O'Henry's grave, bicycling the Blue Ridge... Now that I'm older and have a motorcycle I really want to revisit the Blue Ridge.
