I was just curious - the ad2000 silver fountain pens - were they silver plated or sterling silver? Is there a way to tell - it does not mention anything in the manual/box.

If silver plated - would the plating wear off with every day use? - do I restore it or just keep it going that way?

I do not know the answer to your first question but the answer to the second is that, yes, silver plating will eventually wear off, if you rub the pen long enough and hard enough, or if you drop it, however if you look after it then it should be fine, also there are some leather pouches which are supposed to be 'silver friendly' so maybe you should consider putting it in one of those.

Sorry to disappoint you - the pen is neither sterling silver nor silver plated. It's palladium plated. Palladium is a metal belonging to the platinum family. As to wearing off, this depends on how roughly you treat the pen; treat the pen with due care and attention and there is no reason why the metal should wear off.

if i remember rightly (and i might not) Palladium is excellent at resisting wear even against quite abrasive surfaces, so it really shouldn't wear off in normal rubbing circumstances

I'm glad to hear this, as I have a full Palladium plated Dupont Olympio.
