Hey ya'll ! My name is Vikram, I'v been a lurker at FPN for about 2 months now, and decided I gotta sign up so I can see all the fancy pics and also contribute when I can. I used fountain pens for quite a few years, gave them up for a few years and now the love of fountain pens is back (with a vengence ??).

I have generally used inexpensive fountain pens in the past (Parker Vectors, Parker 45, Hero 329, Flair (an Indian brand), Camlin (another Indian brand) etc). I have been testing the waters lately and after a lot of trial and error, I have come to realize Waterman Phileas is a beautiful schweettttttttt everyday writer. I used to be very found of Parkers but IMO Sanford spoilt all the inexpensive Parkers.

The pens on my current wishlist are -

Parker Sonnet (in various finishes and nibs)

Waterman Carene

Waterman Hemisphere (in black)

A few more Waterman Phileas pens before all the new ones disappear (I'v heard Waterman has discontinued the Phileas)


I love modern fountain pens with medium nibs that are wet writers - I'v never had a gold nib pen and I hope to fix that, just out of curosity if nothing else.

I live in Chicago. Fairly close to Downtown. I am still feeling my way through the forum as a registered member, I don't yet know where the Marketplace is (which may not really be a bad thing j/k)

I've already started. I've already bought one FP since joining this site. And I've got my eyes on at least 2 more.

I know what you mean about buying pens since you joined this site Shangas. I'v discovered quite a bit about Waterman since I started comming here and now it looks like I won't be happy untill I acquire a couple Carenes and a couple Charlestons...and none of them are cheap pens...
