Hiya Ryan,
Tony in Columbus OH here. Also a newbie to both the site AND FP. Are you near the U of Chicago at all? I applied there during my search for a program, but accepted an offer from Ohio State.

I will definitely check your site...I am already looking to double my pen collection (don't get too excited, it would be from 1 to 2 rolleyes.gif )

OT...I have not been to U of Chicago, but have heard it is basically surround by slums (or, very BAD neighborhoods) pretty much on at least 3 sides. What is the area there really like??

Anyway, I think you will find the people here are helpful and friendly.
Tony

There are only two things I really miss about Chicago (I never lived there, only visited - I grew up 350 miles south of Chicago, in southern Illinois) are Chicago style pizza and Chicago style Italian Beef sandwiches. Neither is available that I can find in DFW (Dallas Forth Worth area). I found one place in San Diego to get the Italian Beef, but that was just before I moved here. When she has time, my wife can make an excellent Italian Beef; the kids are after her to open a restuarant, selling Italian Beef Sandwiches and Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches.

Ryan, go out for pizza, with the works (including anchovies) and take home an Italian Beef to go. If you haven't ever done that, living in the Chicago area, you have really missed a treat. If you have, your mouth is probably watering while reading this.

If none of you have ever been to Chicago, or experienced the culinary delights of which I write, when/if you ever go, make sure you sample the local pizza and italian beef. The secret of the italian beef is the pepperoncini, juice squeezed onto the meat, pepper torn apart and spread on top of the juice-soaked meat. Eat it with potato chips, and feast. For the pizza, sprinkle a little parmesan cheese on top (it's in the shaker on the table) and if you are adventurous, a little crushed red pepper.
