I thought about making this a poll, but I also wanted more feedback, so, "Do you carry your urushi pens in your pocket/purse? Why or why not? And if yes, how (plain in the pocket, in a case, etc.)? TIA, southpaw

No. I only have one, a Densho Tamenuri, and it stays in its box on my desk. I use it a fair amount - sermons seem to flow from it - but it doesn't leave the house. I'm too afraid of dropping it out of my pocket or bumping it, etc. The pen was a retirement gift and it has more value than the pen itself (not that that wouldn't be enough to keep it home!).

I carry mine on my shirt's pocket or in its own pen kimono when wearing a sports coat or jacket. At home, it stays in its Nakaya box.

I carry my Piccolo in a Joon's three pen leather case that goes in my backpack's outter pocket. The only downside is that, without the pen pillow, I have to be careful not to drop it.

I've got four urushi-covered pens: three DaniTrio's and one Nakaya, all with clips. They are carried like any other pen, in the front of my shirt. I don't treat them any different.

I take my clipless Nakaya with me to work most days, and just put it in my top pocket. If it travels with other pens, it goes into the same Libelle pen case as they do. At home it sits where all the other pens sit - in cigar boxes on my desk.
I don't treat it any differently to my other pens either.

Ah, but then you do take very good care of your pens as it is!

If I owned an Urushi pen, I would probably carry it in a pen sleeve/case if it doesn't have a clip. If it had a really good clip, and my pocket was big enough, I might carry it in my shirt pocket. But I'd always bring a protective sleeve along just in case.

I have the pen pillow in matching urushi, and the Goldfish maki-e converter makes me smile at every fill-up

That goldfish converter really is the best

I want one!!
I wonder if I can get my local vintage kimono fabric store to make me some of those pen pouches?...

The pen kimono keeps scratches the pen's finish.
The pen pillow keeps the pen from rolling off the desk.
The goldfish converter keeps the owner in a happy mood.
A leather cigar tube will also protect an urushi pen.
