I think H879 means that the nib/pen was made at Pilot's Hiratsuka Factory (H) in September 1987 August 1979. According to a Japanese pen book I have the pattern is called Nadeshiko (the name of the flowers on the pen) in Japanese, not sure what it is called in English. Usually it's a fall flower in Japan.

The current Pilot/Namiki cartridges and converters should work. Does the converter in the photo work?

EDIT: Just googled the flower, and it is called Dianthus.

You can get refills from any delaers that sells Pilot/Namiki refills such as Pendemonium, Swisher Pens, A Pen Lover's Paradise, The Ink Flow, etc.

As for the signature it's not a specific artist's name. It reads "Kokkou-Kai", which is a group of Namiki Maki-e artists. I think it is typical for Pilot/Namiki makie-pens. Even the high-end Pilot/Namiki maki-e has the same signature.

I think your pen was in production up until recently, and many places in Japan still sell them. Here's a link to web pages showing the same pen. Judging from the model number they were called "Pink" in English.

My interpretation of date on the nib code was wrong. It is August 1979. I just looked my Pilots that were produced after year 2000, and the month comes before the year. I thought otherwise as that is the convention in Japan. Sorry for the confusion.
