I recently joined the FPN Being a member of the sinister lifestyle (lefties for those in Alabama), I always stayed away from fountain pens since roller balls and regular ballpoints usually gave me enough "ink emergencies" in my life. However, whether it's hardening of the arteries or too much single malt, I recently became fascinated with fountain pens.

I started out with a basic Watermann Phineas, medium nib and included ink. I also discovered those infamous Moleskin notebooks in Books-a-Million, of all places. Then I read a review of a Pilot Knight and found one at Officedepot. That gave me the motivation to order some different inks and another new pen. BTW, will I eventually start dipping into my son's college fund and mortgaging the house for those $5000 beauties??? Anyway, I'm looking forward to the challenge of learning how to really write. (We don't do much of that in Alabama) and also enjoying the Forum.

While I cannot speak to all your questions, you will need to install a plastic shield to protect your keyboard from all the drool you will produce when you see some of the pens!

Welcome to the forums!

For pitys sake, surely you jest.
The Alabama Writers Conclave is the oldest writers' organization in continuous existence in the United States.

I guess I'm still the only sane person here. tongue.gif

Welcome to the FPN! I once had a substitute teacher from Daleville, Alabama when I was in third-grade for two weeks. She loved to use fountain pens, one of which was all-white like ivory, with an 18k nib. I wish I could remember more about the pen, but what stuck in my mind was how beautiful she was, and this was at an age when girls are infested with "cooties." rolleyes.gif Nonetheless, everyone I have met from lower Alabama has always been very nice, and know how to cook! I am sure you will love it here. thumbup.gif
