Hi folks,

Can a CS 70 (clear barrel impression) ever be considered an 85? I'm asking as the description of the pen stated 85, hoever when it arrived today the imprint says 70. Unfortunately, it seems Jonathan's wonderful CS site is down or I would consult that first. I don't know all the ins and outs of the CS model system and wanted to be a little more informed before mentioning this to the seller. Thanks in advance for any help you may have to offer.

You may be looking at Jonathan's old site address, the correct current page is here.

The 70 and 85 are virtually identical - except for the trim, which is chrome plated on the 70 and gold plated on the 85. The models are distinct, though. The 85 didn't last too long and was soon replaced by the 85L, longer and with a broader cap band.

Make sure yours isn't a hybrid, with a chrome lever (ie 70 barrel) and gold cap band (85 cap).

Thanks so much, Andy - both for the information and the updated link to Jonathan's site. I've bookmarked it. It's definitely not a hybrid - it's all nickel on the lever and the cap - it's a lovely pearled blue and black marbled. Thanks again! smile.gif

If it was advertised as an 85 I guess the vendor may just have picked up the wrong pen to mail out to you if they were in a hurry as they look so much alike! I would think the monetary values should be pretty much the same as well.
