I own a Meisterstuck Platinum Line Le Grand Rollerball that I received as a graduation present from my mother. I'm excited to learn about using it more often, as it has resided in its original box for a year and a half (I've been afraid to carry/use it often since it is so expensive). Recently I've been caring it in my shirt pocket and using it to sign off on document or for the occasional note. I like the weight very much (quite heavy and bulky), but notice that the ink does not last as long as I would expect. There is also some ink bleeding around the ring of the ball point that doesn't seem normal. Anyway, I'm looking forward to searching around the forum for posts on these and other topics.

Good day,

Ben

Welcome to FPN. That roller ball could lead you to a fountain pen.

I'm going to be hated by a lot of people...probably. But I'll say it anyway -

There's no difference between an expensive ballpoint or rollerball, and the 50c one that you pick up at the newsagent's...it's just different packaging.

I can say that through experience. My dad has a Montblanc ballpoint and it writes no different from Bic. I have a Montblanc fountain pen, and it writes a hell of a lot better and smoother.

JediGamer is very correct. Resistance is futile....*waves gold pocket-watch*....buy...a....fooooooouuunnnntain...pen.......

Rollerballs are often just a short step from trying fountain pens; I'm sure we'll be glad to help you along your way laugh.gif

Although the rollerball refill is almost certainly made by Schmidt (as you can find on http://www.yafa.com, who carry the complete Schmidt retail refill line), the Mont Blanc LeGrand size rollerball seems to use a custom size. If you treat your pen to a new refill, you'll probably find the leaking problem goes away. Unfortunately, they don't last as long as ballpoint refills do -- but they do put down a nicer looking line! cool.gif
