Hello Folks,
I just won this auction on eBay:
MetropolisNow I have a couple of questions
1) I've heard that Metropolis pens came with a converter. So if that's new in the box, there should be a converter with it, right?
2) Did I overpay?

Dear Bayes:
The two Metropolis pens I have did not come with a converter, so I don't believe the presence or absence of a converter is proof of "newness." Both of the pens I have were purchased new a few years back from a local retailer.
To your question of overpayment - you purchased a "collector's item" in that the Metropolis is no longer in production at Cross. If you felt comfortable with your bid limit at the time, you did not overpay. In other words, value is pretty much in the eye (and mind) of the bidder.

Thanks for the information. I'm reassured that some didn't come with a converter. I ordered one from the seller so I'll have one in the end.
Just out of curiosity, how much did you pay for yours when you bought them retail.
Your point is of course the fundamental one. I will feel good about the pen as long as it works well for me. I'm more curious than anything as I learn about pens in general and especially Cross.

I believe you got the pen cheaper than its original price once was. The metropolis is one of my Cross favorites. I like the look and the feel of the pen. Awhile back I was able to get a different size nib for mine going thru Cross. I forgot what I paid for it. Hope you enjoy it.
