Hi all,
I bought a Knight for my wife who is a physician and writes quite a bit at work. She enjoys this pen but noticed that it oozed ink from the breather hole. We sent it back for repair (while she used my Phileas

) and it seemed that they replaced the nib. It has been a couple of weeks now and the problem has resurfaced.
Has anyone else had this problem with the Knight? Thanks in advance.

I don't have Knight myself, but what ink is she using? Does it happen with any ink? While it can well be a problem with the nib, often ink could be the culprit, too. Certain very saturated ink, such as some colors of Noodler's Bulletproof ink, creep on nibs. You might want to search this forum with key words "nib creep". Here's one of the nib-creep discussions threads:

I've just checked my Knight filled with Private Reserve and yes there is nib creep. I've found this happens less with Quink, although I couldn't say for sure because my routine solution to this issue is to ignore it.

Eric

She uses the Pilot/Namiki cartridges. Didn't even know the name was 'nib creep'. That's why I love this forum. Thanks for the help.

I get the tiniest eence of nib creep on my Fermo using the Pilot black cart it came with. My experience is that the VP nibs creep very badly with Noodler's Black. But I deal with it.

Hideous, astonishing, growing-in-the-night-fungal nib creep on my Pilot Knight with Noodler's Legal Lapis. It's scary. I cleaned it off, got most of it (except for a thin line on either side of the slit), left it overnight... and the next morning it was worse than before! Almost the entire front of the nib is now blue. Possibly related, the ink has pretty much dried up in the nib and feed. I can barely get the blasted thing to write.
So, Noodler's Legal Lapis + Pilot Knight =

I have my Knight filled with Noodler's Red Black and the nib is always covered with ink.

I have two that get hauled around in my laptop bag with no problems. Neither had been touched in at least a week, but looking at them right now there's only a couple very tiny spots around the slot. This is with Aurora black and Noodlers red. Also, the black started right away, though the red took a couple seconds to flow again.

I have only used the Pilot Cartridges, and have a little creep. But it is not that bad and never gets to the point where I fear there would be any pooling, flinging or dripping of ink. I have 2 Knights and love the nibs. A little creep is not an issue.

Sorry if I am coming late to this discussion, but I thought I'd add my bit to it. I have tried the following in my Knight:
1. First filling: Private Reserve Purple Mojo: tiny nib creep, only ended up with tiny spots if it bounced around in my pocket
2. Caran d'Ache Grand Canyon: no nib creep or spots, but the pen didn't write as smoothly as it did with the PR
3. PR Plum: no nib creep or spots.
Now, if I could just get as lovely performance out of my MB, I would be a happy woman! My advice (such as it is) is to try a variety of ink manufacturers.

So far, no creep using Skrip Jet Black ink.
New pen, will try something else when this fill runs dry.

Most inks don't get creep with Pilot Knights, but some do

I've found that most Noodlers creeps, but a lot of the traditional inks like Quink, Waterman and Sheaffer don't

Pilot ink is known to creep in some pens, so I'm not surprised. If the creeping isn't bad - it's not really a problem. Hope the pen keeps being enjoyed.
