I'd just like to get others opinions on what kind of questions I can ask an ebay dealer, or any dealer for that matter, to make sure that the 146 I'm looking at is authentic. I've searched the forum already and have found some things to look for, but I'd like to be able to ask specific questions (i.e., serial number placement, which models and year has "pix" written on it, etc.). Also, what price should I be looking for... I know that an offer too good to be true is, but what would be a reasonable purchase price for a gently used 146? Thanks to all for any information.
Regards,
Dean

Hello Dean,
i think all the points that you brought up make good sense and are worth asking. A couple of extra things that i can add is you should ask to get close up pictures of the pen especially the nib, and in general try to find a seller with positive feedback (of course) but also someone that has some pen knowledge. I have seen power sellers on ebay with very positive feedback selling fake montblancs just cause they don't know since they don't specialize. A fair ebay price on a used 146 i think should be around 200$. I see a fair number of them being sold in Europe for around 130-160 euros. Another thing i can suggest in case you are not certain is get some photos of the pen and post them here so we can all have a look!
Good Luck it is a fantastic pen!

Be wary of the pictures. Remember that even though they post pictures of a Meisterstuck 146, there's the chance that it's not the item you're getting if you do win the auction. I took a gamble myself with my 146 over eBay, but I got a good deal. The nearest boutique, at least in their opinion, assured me it was genuine.
