I have a nice "51" Special that I like. The cap is a stainless steel more polished than the normal matte 51. I wonder if that's mostly found on specials? Anyway, the problem is the cap to this pen holds on just fine when the pen is closed, but when it's posted it does not seem to grip at all. It sort of wobbles back and forth, it seems to only grip at the very bottom of the cap, near the lip.

Are the springs worn out?
Can this be adjusted?

I find the 51 very well balanced when posted, but this poor pen is sort of useless if I can't post the cap.
