I've just gotten a Osmiroid 65, later model (Cap has oblique top reminiscent of 50's Chev fenders, section has almost straight sides), and the screw-in point-holder is stuck in the section. I have a suspicion that the previous owner somehow got it in at an angle, and now it's lodged firmly and I think cracked. I can draw the feed and point out of it (very alarming when it happened), but after ages of soaking I can't get the little plastic bit out of the section body.

I am wondering if anyone can suggest a tool that one might use to come to grips with the recalcitrant inner bit. Other than the only thing that I can currently come up with, being gouging at it with a screw-driver of slightly greater diameter than the feed-- a very sub-optimal solution, which is why I'm asking.

Hi Ernst,

It is not such a disaster, if the feed/nib holder is cracked it can be deformed by using a thin screwdriver/awl to carefully lever the holder away from the section wall, this will ease the grip of the holder on the threads and allow it to be turned. On the later nib units the plastic is softer then on the earlier ones and can be carefully cut with the tip of a scalpel, this has the same effect as a crack and allow the holder to be turned.
If neither of the above ideas work, don't panic, e-mail me and I can sort out a replacement section for you.

Cheers, John
