Hello. I am just finishing my family medicine residency and will be starting a new practice in July. I feel like I probably need a Mont Blanc fountain pen biggrin.gif (will be my first Mont Blanc, but certainly not my first fountain pen) once I start my practice. I was wondering if anyone out there knows of any authorized dealers in or around Northwest Ohio (or at least in Ohio). I live in Toledo, Ohio right now, but will be moving to Findlay, Ohio which is about 45 minutes south of here.

Regards,

Dean

If you want to make a little road trip north, you can go to the MB botique in the Somerset collection in Troy, MI. I've had good luck there. Bought 2 pens from them over the years. They will obviously have the best selection for a brick and morter store. Paradise Pens also sells MB but the selection is much smaller. There's a certain pleasure when you buy an MB from a MB botique. The fun part is holding the outrageously expensive pens. When I bought my 149, they had the all platinum 149 ($16,000 at the time) in the display case. A beautiful pen to say the least, but ungodly heavy. Not for writing. Have fun, and you probably won't stop at one.

Congratulations Dean. You might want to consider ordering from Fountain Pen Hospital or Swisher Pens. My guess is they discount from MSRP, but do not advertise this. Do you have any particular model in mind?

I tried a 149 about two months ago, but found its girth a bit much for me, so I didn't buy it.

I'm thinking about a 146. Eventually I want to get a Hemingway.

My sister-in-law lives near Findley.

There is a jewelry (?) store called Van’s that might have a small selection of MB’s.

They carry high end watches. Just might have some pens.

Dean
Pyrguy,

I know exactly where you are talking. It's Von's jewelery store and the same store (although in a different town) where I bought my wifes engagement ring. I'll have to check it out.

There's four Montblanc Boutiques the Chicago area. Check:

Dean, first off congratulations. I hope you like your practice.

I just responded to your MB 146 inquiry, and I think a 146 might be a good useable pen for you. I also echo the recommendation for buying from Swisher Pens or Fountain Pen Hospital. Both are authorized dealers, both discount, and both will be willing to receive a return in case you actually don't like the pen.

Good luck.

Very rare, very expensive. Collectors sell it boxed at around $ 3.000
Once you see it, you'll fall in love with the nib...
Dean
Tassos,

There's a physician I work with who carries a Hemingway and uses it everyday. I agree, it is a beautiful pen. Maybe someday biggrin.gif .
