Hi,
Has anyone had any dealings with either of these ebay sellers?

de Fine Time

or

haytne at Luxury Lighters and Pen ebay store

They both are selling the Greta Garbo fountain pen that I have been longing for.

I have not had any experience with either of these sellers but you are very wise to ask first. Good show! tongue.gif

No experience, but the number of sales and their rating would make them seem to be on the up and up. My suggestion, send them a question about service and their policy, the reply you do or don't get should speak volumes.

Just a thought for my .02 worth.

No experience with either of these sellers here either, but I like to always make sure sellers I deal with have a return/refund policy that gives me some "peace of mind". If they are willing to provide that guarantee and also have an outstanding rating, the chances are good that you will get what you pay for (or at the least - if you don't - you won't get burned!).

I'm not try either seller in ebay. You can ask a question before place a bid. You must check the refund or return policy.

One check point I use with Ebay sellers is to see how many other items they have for sale. In my view, if you are legitimate, you would not jeapordize future sales with potential negative ratings.

FWIW, my personal Fleabay criteria are numerous feedbacks, preferably well over 100, and over a 99% positive rating, preferably over 99.5%. Were I you, I would go with seller definetime (thousands of feedbacks, over 99.5% positive) over haytne (hundreds of feedbacks, under 99% positive). JMO. smile.gif

You cannot use the measurement system of ebay as the sole determinant of a good seller/buyer. All it takes is a bunch of stupid buyers to bring down a good honest seller. I often see negatives for things like slow post, or item looked bigger in the picture as reason for giving a seller a negative. THE WORST IS GIVING A BUYER A NEGATIVE FEEDBACK AND THEY RETALIATE BY GIVING YOU ONE AS WELL wallbash.gif . I like negatives, they can be looked at and an explanation can be seen. Number ratings are a guide but to accept only above 99% is not practical....you want an item you find a seller...you look at price....terms of sale .....then rating ....if your selection is based on price you will take your chances but do some homework....if rating is your criteria then you will probably never buy anything.
Read the negs ...do they shout "THIEF" ph34r.gif "LIAR" dry.gif "CHEAT" rolleyes.gif . There are easier ways to cover yourselves on ebay ....pay with a Credit Card even via Paypal, You can apprach you CC provider as well as Paypal. PayPal even covers the lost postage cost. I have been ripped badly by a 100% seller so just have trust, pay in a manner that you have some recourse, and enjoy ...it is supposed to be fun afterall. biggrin.gif

I have bought from definetime at a pen show. Can't vouch for him on merchandise I haven't handled, but my purchase was quite satisfactory.

I got a silver barley 146 from him, fwiw.

I'm glad you did trust de Fine Time for that's where I got my MB Bohème substantially reduced and their service was very good.
I recommend them IMHO. wink.gif

So what came first the name or the design ....it looks just like a Greta Garbo reincarnated as a pen very sultry pen...or was it just that it looked nothing like a George Bush Jnr. (now that would be a sexy pen!!) drool.gif

Paypal protection, in my experience, isnt that great-- I use paypal quite often, but for anything over $100.00, I use paypal and opt to pay via credit card. My card company then protects me as well, kind of double insurance.

These criteria are, in the case of a dishonest seller, not the best. It is quite easy to manipulate with the amount of transactions and the sellers rating. This seems to be done by opening a a lot of eBay accounts that are use by one person or the same group of persons. Even contacting the seller about return policies for example is no good indication at all. eBay is not safest place to buy something and if something goes wrong, do not expect anything from eBay or Paypal.
